Lesson Duration & Practice Expectations

Lesson times are thoughtfully assigned by Mrs. Becky based on each student’s playing level and goals. Most weekly lesson lengths follow this structure:

  • Beginning students: 30 minutes

  • Intermediate students: 45 minutes

  • Advanced students: 60 minutes

These durations reflect the depth of material and personalized instruction provided in each session. All students are expected to practice a minimum of five days per week, with practice time typically aligning with the length and intensity of their lessons.

Piano Lessons:

🎹 Piano Lessons for All Levels

Whether you're just starting out or refining your craft, our piano lessons are designed to nurture musicianship at every stage.

  • Beginner to Intermediate: Build a strong foundation in technique, musicality, and sight-reading. Lessons emphasize the fundamentals while fostering confidence and fluency as you grow into a classically trained pianist. We use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventure Series for these lessons and as the student advances we sprinkle in standard works.

  • Advanced: Deepen your artistry with rigorous daily technical exercises, and explore masterworks from the Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras—including fugues, sonatinas, and sonatas. Expand your repertoire to include pop and contemporary styles, sharpen your sight-reading, and take your first steps toward collaborative performance.

Horn Lessons:

📯 Horn Lessons for Every Stage

From first notes to college auditions, our horn instruction builds strong, confident players with a focus on technique, musicality, and performance readiness.

  • Beginner to Intermediate: Students learn fundamentals including playing posture, embouchure, breathing technique, horn care, and music reading. Lessons incorporate exercises, etudes, and ability-based pieces, laying the groundwork for standardized horn solos by 8th grade and continued growth into high school.

  • High School: Training intensifies with technical studies, rigorous solo repertoire, orchestral excerpts, and audition preparation. Students explore a range of styles and build a portfolio of performance-ready pieces, including selections suitable for university auditions.

  • Advanced & Beyond High School Horn Training: For passionate players continuing past high school, lessons focus on mastering technique, refining musical artistry, and developing interpretation across diverse repertoire. Students work through both standard and non-standard solo works, plus any personal selections they'd like to pursue—all with performance in mind.

🎶 Mrs. Becky serves as each student’s collaborative pianist throughout all levels of instruction, ensuring musical partnership and support during every lesson and performance.
